British expats and holidaymakers alike continue to set their sights on Spain, according to new research.
And with gorgeous beaches, a low cost of living, strong expat communities and friendly locals, it is no surprise that Britons want to head there.
The latest data from Ennes Global showed search interest for the term "buying in Spain" increased by a huge 68.9 per cent in 2025, compared to 2024. Searches for "holiday home Spain" also jumped 66.1 per cent.
Last year, there were proposals of a 100 per cent tax on property purchases in Spain by non-EU residents, as well as more purchasing restrictions, but that has seemingly not deterred UK buyers.

CEO of Enness Global, Islay Robinson, said: “Despite the political noise around restricting overseas buyers, British interest in Spanish property remains remarkably resilient, and our analysis shows that demand hasn’t weakened; if anything, it has strengthened over the past year.
"For many UK buyers, Spain continues to offer an unbeatable combination of lifestyle, climate, and relative value, particularly when compared to some parts of the domestic market.
"While regulatory changes may alter how people buy, they are unlikely to change why people buy, and we are seeing many clients place a greater emphasis on structuring purchases efficiently based on the evolving landscape.
"Ultimately, Spain remains one of the most desirable second-home and relocation destinations for British buyers, and even in a tighter regulatory environment, demand for quality lifestyle property in the sun shows no sign of fading.”

Malaga also has good availability for buying property
| GETTYSpain has a large expat community, and the familiarity can really help Britons settle in if they choose to move there.
If relocating, an expat living there shared "simple" advice to help beat the crowds and experience the cities like a local.
He shared advice for living in different parts of the country and offered tips about visiting top attractions. The expat explained: “After years of living in Spain and guiding students through the country's culture, I've seen countless visitors return from ‘must-see’ attractions feeling disappointed.”
