GBN America Correspondent Steven Edginton has weighed in on speculation that US President Joe Biden may drop out of the leadership race, ahead of the November election.
Steven told GBNA: "Speculation is growing that Joe Biden may quit the presidential race following a report from The New York Times, who cite a conversation between President Biden and a key ally in which it's claimed. Biden said that he's weighing up whether to continue in this presidential race against Donald Trump following his disastrous debate against the Republican candidate.
"The White House have vehemently denied these reports. They say that Joe Biden is going to continue. He's in it to win it. He is not going to drop out of the race. However, many Democrats have been speculating whether Joe Biden can continue following that debate performance.
"People are speculating as to whether Michelle Obama will become the Democratic candidate, whether it's going to be Kamala Harris, the current vice president, or perhaps even Gavin Newsom, the governor of California. This report in The New York Times is interesting, because The New York Times is seen as a more left leaning paper and certainly has very good sources within the white House.
"So, as I say, speculation is growing as to whether President Biden will soon drop out of the presidential race."
