GB News reporter Chris Hope (Chopper) has reacted to the growing tensions between Ireland and the UK after Ireland has proposed sending asylum seekers back to the UK.
It follows comments by Ireland's deputy prime minister that the threat of deportation to Rwanda is causing migrants to head for Ireland instead of staying in Britain.
Prime Minister Sunak claimed that the increase in migrants crossing into Ireland from the UK shows that his controversial Rwanda policy, which aims to send some asylum seekers arriving in Britain on a one-way trip to the African country, is working.
Speaking on GB News Chopper said: "What do you think of our debate on Ireland? Is it right that they think they can send back illegal migrants and asylum seekers from Ireland to Northern Ireland or even mainland Britain?
"They think they can do it, even though Micheal Martin, the former prime minister, said that the border on Ireland, the island of Ireland, must remain open. Not for pandemic reasons or refugee reasons could it be closed.
"Here we are seeing that being tested. And who's meeting up with Chris Heaton-Harris, the Northern Ireland secretary?
"Yes, that same guy, Micheal Martin. As a senior minister in the Dublin government. You couldn't make it up. Maybe it's our problem.
"Or why are we passing it on to Southern Ireland? Is it right that they should try and push people back to us?
"And in fact, should the UK use this opportunity to try and get a returns agreement with France?
"Please do send us your best thoughts and tell us what you think. Because really, frankly, what I think doesn't matter. It's what you think that matters"
