Comedian Joe Wilkinson stars as Phil, a shy singleton who finds romance with Keira Knightley
Waitrose has revealed its Christmas advert for 2025 with a four-minute mini-movie inspired by a Richard Curtis rom-com, and it did not disappoint.
Comedian Joe Wilkinson stars as Phil, a shy singleton who finds romance with Keira Knightley, played by Keira herself in cosy scarves and PJs.
The advert is directed by Bafta-award winner Molly Manners, who also helmed Netflix’s adaptation of David Nicholls’s One Day.
It begins in a pub called The Pie Makers Arms, where Phil is encouraged by friends to move on from his heartbreak.
A meet-cute at a Waitrose deli counter wit the iconic movie star leads to a montage of snowy walks, playful moments, and shared meals, emphasising food as a love language.
Phil ultimately expresses his affection through a homemade turkey pie, crafted to impress, recalling classic rom-com moments such as the cue cards scene in Love Actually.
