Britons have been warned that a mistake when washing their face could cause them to look older
Skin care is one of the most effective ways to promote healthier and younger-looking skin.
A typical skin care routine will include a cleanser. An expert shared advice on the best water temperature to use for a youthful glow.
Founder of Sphagnum De-Lux Lisa Kavanagh said: "While getting wrinkles and lines is natural as we start to age, following the wrong types of skin care will cause accelerating ageing and damaged skin.”
The expert listed a number of things that can accelerate ageing, including skipping moisturiser on the neck and not removing make-up.
An expert shared advice for washing your face

Lisa added: "Using piping hot water can make your skin extremely dry which can damage the skin barrier and cause wrinkling and lines."
Most people will start and end their day by washing their face, but using water that is too hot can be surprisingly damaging to the skin.
Instead, opt for lukewarm water when cleansing. There are also benefits of using ice cold water on your face, if you can handle the cold.
"Make sure only to use hot water occasionally in order to help open up pores, otherwise, stick to lukewarm for daily cleanses."
Another important piece of advice when washing your face is to make sure you are removing all your make-up.
Make-up products can cause chaos for your skin, potentially making it dry out or for collagen to break down. When this happens the skin loses elasticity.
Lisa added: "While it’s common to accidentally forget to remove some mascara or concealer at night, repeatedly forgetting to remove makeup before bed can cause damaging effects on the skin.
"Leaving it on can lead to accelerated ageing as it breaks down collagen and results in fine lines and wrinkles."
