An urgent safety alert has been issued to Lidl shoppers

Lidl GB has issued a recall for all Tower 8Ltr Dual Basket Air Fryers (model T17129L) due to safety concerns.

The supermarket chain's supplier has identified a risk of overheating in the affected units, which could potentially lead to fires.

Batch Affected: All stock of T17129L

Customers who have purchased this specific air fryer model should "stop using it immediately".

The recall encompasses all stock of the T17129L model, though Lidl has confirmed that no other Tower products sold in its stores are impacted by this safety alert.

Shoppers should contact the supplier at www.tower-safety.co.uk to check if their unit is affected and follow the instructions for returning it.

The website offers guidance on identifying affected models and arranging returns.

Lidl apologised for any inconvenience caused by the recall and thanked customers for their cooperation.

For additional information or queries regarding the recall, customers can contact Lidl's Customer Care team via email at customer.care@lidl.co.uk or by telephone on 0203 966 5566.

While the current recall only affects the Tower 8Ltr Dual Basket Air Fryer, safety fears around Tower Air Fryers circulated earlier this year when various models were deemed unsafe.

Officials warned that the products presented a risk of fire as they can overheat and ignite during use.

The affected models were sold by several major UK retailers, including Tesco, Argos, B&M Bargains, Poundland and Robert Dyas. They were also sold via the Tower Housewares website.

Office for Product Safety and Standards

The recent Lidl recall comes just days after the supermarket issued an urgent warning regarding a popular breakfast food that may contain metal.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) explained that it presents a choking hazard and is unsafe to eat.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Shoppers who have purchased the affected product can return it to their nearest Lidl store for a full refund.

For further information, Britons can contact customer service representatives on 0203 966 5566 or via customer.care@lidl.co.uk.

Food and product recalls must always be taken seriously to ensure customer safety.

Britons were recently warned that sweets containing "unlawful" oils were urgently recalled and pulled from sale.

Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH) and Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons (MOSH) were discovered in the confectionery, making the products unsafe to eat.

The FSA advised: "For consumers, don't buy them, and if you've eaten these products, there should be no immediate cause for concern, as food safety risk is low, but don't eat any more.

"These products contain mineral oil, which isn't allowed in food in the UK and may pose a food safety risk if consumed regularly over a sustained period of time."
