Parents across the UK are being urged to check their little ones' wardrobes after Matalan issued an urgent recall for hazardous baby clothes.
The high street retailer has flagged several items, including rompers, dungarees and sweater sets, as unsafe.
The affected garments, which were available in stores from mid-July through to mid-October this year, have been found to have faulty poppers that could injure babies.
The products in question include a Floral Jersey Romper, two Bear Quilted items – a sweat set and romper – plus a Quilted Crew Sweat and Jog set in grey.

All were manufactured in India and sold between July 13 and October 17, 2025.
Matalan confirmed that the poppers on these garments have rough edges, "which could lead to infants receiving cuts or scrapes".
According to the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the products fail to meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005, making them unsafe for infant use.

Matalan has moved quickly to address the issue, stating: "As customer safety is our highest priority, we are immediately recalling these rompers and sweat sets."
The retailer acknowledged the products don't meet its "usual high standards for quality and safety", adding: "We pride ourselves on delivering great quality at great prices and we're really sorry for any inconvenience caused."
Parents who have purchased any of the items should "stop using them immediately" and return them to their nearest Matalan store for a full refund, no receipt required.

They are also being asked to spread the word to friends and family who might have purchased these items as gifts.
The retailer has set up a dedicated helpline for worried customers on 0333 0044444, and anyone with questions can also email customercareceo@matalan.co.uk.
Matalan stressed that this recall affects only the specific baby items – no other products are unsafe to use.
The recall comes as Tesco issued a warning over unsafe meat due to "incorrectly cooking".
