Caffeine from green tea will "temporarily tighten the skin"

Many women go down the route of plastic surgery in the pursuit of looking younger, however, not all of us have the money - or the desire - to drastically change our looks.

It's possible to appear more youthful with simple hacks that take just minutes to implement. A plastic surgeon told older men and women that they can de-puff their eyes using green tea and potatoes.

Under-eye bags and puffiness are natural signs of ageing. To get rid of these quickly and thereby create a more youthful, vibrant complexion, America's Holistic Plastic Surgeon Dr Anthony Youn told older people to combine cold green tea with potato slices.

The anti-ageing expert advised: "Steep some green tea and put it in the fridge to cool.

"Then, chop thin slices of potato, dip them in the chilled green tea and apply them to your eyelids."

Consider this an anti-ageing quick fix. Dr Youn explained that the caffeine and the cold temperature from the green tea will "temporarily tighten up the skin".

As for the anti-ageing effects of potatoes, the starch has a "gradual lightening effect".

Older people are more likely to have dark under-eye bags due to the loss of fat and collagen that naturally occurs with age. Consequently, the blood vessels under the eyes are more visible.

The plastic surgeon offered a second tip for those who want to look younger without having to do very much at all.

Dr Youn advised that peppermint oil can be a very effective lip plumper. Thin lips are synonymous with ageing and like dark under-eyes, are a direct result of reduced collagen production.

The plastic surgeon said: "If you want plumper lips but don't want lip injections, put a drop of peppermint oil into your lip gloss. Mix it, then apply the gloss to your lips."

The expert advised anti-ageing enthusiasts to invest in a skin care product that creates tightening, exfoliates the skin, and can even thicken the collagen of your skin.

In addition to the plastic surgeon's home remedies, women can experiment with new haircuts and styles for a more youthful look.

A hairstylist told women in their 50s, 60s and 70s that they can look younger instantly with an "incredibly feminine" haircut.

Ladies can also revamp their wardrobes for an anti-ageing effect. Women over 40 were warned they "should never wear" a particular style of jeans.
