Blush can be a 'great way to add dimension and liveliness to mature skin', experts say

While makeup fanatics might be inclined to reach for more subtle shades as they get older, it might not be necessary to banish vibrant shades from your routine forever.

An online beauty creator has told followers that opting for "dazzling" colours might help craft a rejuvenated, youthful appearance.

Applying a vibrant pink shade to her cheeks, Masha Solechnik, who goes by @masha_solechnik on TikTok, strongly encouraged individuals to incorporate a pinkish hue into their beauty routines, no matter their age.

Often, beauty experts deter older ladies from grabbing more vivacious shades - from eyeshadows, to eyeliners and lipsticks - insisting that more subtle shades enhance mature skin more effectively.

But Masha denounced this way of thinking, declaring that using lighter shades, such as more "dazzling pinks", can take years off your complexion.

And her followers agree with her, with one saying they "love" the look, while another commented: "It's so lovely on you - looks so natural!"

A third user asked whether her beauty hack could work for them in their 50s, to which Masha replied: "I reckon you could."

Hailed as a "great way to add dimension and liveliness to mature skin" by L'Oreal Paris, blush can certainly transform your appearance by adding a pop of colour.

However, the makeup gurus at L'Oreal encouraged individuals to choose their shade of blush based on their skin tone, promising that there is "a gorgeous shade for everyone".

Generally, lighter shades of pink and gentle pastel shades complement fair skin well due to their softness and inability to "overpower" your visage, the experts explained. Specific tones are dictated by your undertones, however.

For those with medium skin tones, a multitude of shades can complement your complexion, including pinks, peaches and bronzes, and can vary based on whether you would prefer to acquire a gentle, subtle look or a more sun-kissed glow.

Meanwhile, olive complexions are often paired with "bright, summery shades". Coral and peach hues can enhance olive skin with a "natural radiance".

And L'Oreal recommends that individuals with deeper skin tones opt for richer tones, like "rich berries" and "deep, creamy chocolates".

They urged individuals to err on the side of caution with any light or pastel shades, as they can wash out your complexion.

But for those who are unsure of which shade to select, L'Oreal promotes peach as the most "universally flattering blush colour that works with every skin tone".

A highly flexible hue, the shade can suit pale, medium, olive, and dark skin tones and can pair nicely with every undertone.

Regularly regarded as a "make-or-break" product, since blush is one of the final products of a makeup routine, another beauty guru weighed in on the best way to apply it.

It's important to get this right, as the vibrant pop of colour can only work its magic when it's applied correctly.
