A beauty guru has shared a speedy trick to create a 'lifted look'

A trend that took off around 2016, contouring, still remains a mystery to many.

When faced with an insurmountable variety of products and techniques to shape the complexion, it's no wonder that so many hit the brakes when attempting new ways to visibly brighten and enhance their visage.

But for those keen to revamp their routines, makeup artist and content creator Cortney Spencer shared a helpful and easy-to-follow "30-second facelift" trick that anyone can try.

Using just a makeup brush to guide each individual contour line, the technique comes at no extra cost and is very easily imitated, making it perfect for contouring novices.

Cortney first lines up the wand from the corner of her nose to the corner of her eye. She then applies concealer in a straight, continuous line just below the brush, a few inches from her hairline.

The next line is a little lower, angling the makeup brush from her nose to just below the line freshly drawn on her temple. This line is a little shorter than the first.

The third contour line is created by angling the guiding brush from the corner of her mouth to the top of her ear, marking concealer a few inches under the apple of her cheek.

The fourth and final line is made up by placing the brush from the corner of her mouth to slightly lower on her ear, marking the concealer a couple of inches beyond her lip line.

After drawing the four lines, Cortney gently blends her concealer using an upward brushing technique.

Rushing to try the hack, TikTok users then flocked to the comments section to rave about the results, with one simply exclaiming: "What a difference!"

Another fan enthusiastically weighed in, noting that the tip has sped up their routine.

Meanwhile, a soon-to-be 77-year-old said that they were going to try their hand at the technique.

Although blending makes up the final step, it's certainly the most crucial one. L'Oreal Paris urged individuals to use a makeup sponge or brush to "seamlessly blend" the concealer onto their skin.

It's important to avoid "unwanted harsh lines and stark contrasts", so it's essential to take your time with this step, they added.

Finally, it's best to "set your hard work while ensuring a long-lasting result with a translucent powder", L'Oreal advised.

However, other beauty experts have warned against those with more mature skin incorporating this step into their routines.

"You can get away with it when you're 20 - but not when you’re over the age of 50," one professional makeup artist warned, highlighting that overdoing it could damage the overall look.
