The company encouraged customers to "run to your nearest store to try this delicious dessert today" in their Instagram announcement.

Since then, social media users have flocked online with an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm to the retailer's announcement.

"Omg I need! Looks so good just when I'm trying to cut out sugar," one feverish follower commented on the post.

Others shared similar excitement about the new offering, with one sharing: "That looks so good. Can't wait to try it!!"

Meanwhile, one admitted they were "drooling" over the dessert. "Such delights should have a trigger warning! Looks divine," gushed another fan.

Waitrose's latest sweet treat has come after the nation has been engulfed in a pistachio-chocolate craze, taking after the global Dubai chocolate obsession.

To name just a few, the Co-op has launched an "irresistible" limited-edition Dubai chocolate brownie as part of its meal deal, while Marks & Spencer has delighted fans with a pistachio and white chocolate "loaded" cookie.

GETTY

"These look amazing," another customer added. However, others expressed disappointment that they had not yet been able to get their hands on the chocolate-nutty concoction.

However, the launch hasn't been without its challenges. Several customers have encountered difficulties locating the coveted desserts at their neighbourhood branches.

Social media comments revealed that some shoppers were "disappointed" when they discovered empty shelves where the tortes should have been, as, presumably, feverish fans clear stock supplies fast.
