If you've been doing rigorous exercise and getting nowhere, it may be time to switch up your routine

The benefits of high-intensity and low-intensity exercise are undisputed, but choosing the best one for your body is crucial when aiming to lose weight.

Low-intensity exercise can be a great choice for belly fat loss as it promotes better body composition.

Nader Qudimat, a bodybuilding specialist and consultant at Bodybuilding Reviews told GB News why walking, cycling and yoga are particularly beneficial for targeting the abdominal region.

“Walking at a fast pace is, in my opinion, an accessible and efficient kind of low-impact exercise that can assist in the burning of calories and the promotion of fat loss from all areas of the body, including the abdominal region," the expert said.

“To get the benefits, you should walk at a brisk pace for at least thirty minutes on most days of the week."

There is ample evidence that regularly cycling reduces overall weight and promotes a slimmer waistline.

“Cycling, particularly when done at a moderate pace, can be a wonderful way to burn calories and tone the lower body, including the abdominal muscles," said Nader.

“Cycling regularly can help reduce excess belly fat, regardless of whether you like to ride when you are outside or when you are using a stationary bike."

By engaging the core, even softer exercises like yoga can help reduce belly fat.

“If you want to improve your body composition, including reducing belly fat, yoga can be a useful activity," noted Nader.

“Although yoga is not generally connected with far burning, it can be [....] effective. Strength training, flexibility training and mindfulness training are all components of yoga, which can help support fat loss objectives and contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

“When it comes to toning the abdominal muscles, poses that work the core, such as the Plank Pose and the Boat Pose, can be very useful.”

“Low-intensity exercise uses fat as fuel, therefore burning fat, and high-intensity exercise burns carbohydrates as fuel so it oxidizes less fat than lower-intensity exercises," she said.

“These types of exercises are also usually more sustainable so you can exercise for longer periods and burn more calories overall.”

Strength training is also highly recommended because its health benefits are so wide-ranging.

“While these are all good exercise options, the best way to lose belly fat is by consistently eating healthy and exercising regularly," added Carlie.
