'We’ve been sold this idea that weight loss has to be extremely difficult; that you have to track everything, that you have to obsess over it, and, at the end of the day, it’s just not true,' a wellness fanatic said

With a weight loss goal in mind, it can be easy to start obsessing over calorie-counting, banning foods and enforcing strict fitness regimens.

However, it might not be necessary to force your body into harsh conditions when fat loss can be achieved by making simple intuitive changes.

And that’s the main takeaway from Elise, who has shared her tips that she learned throughout her own weight loss journey when she lost a stone over the course of three months.

The wellness influencer, who goes by @elisewetherholt, is an ardent believer that weight loss does not need to be difficult at all.

Elise believes that weight loss doesn't have to be difficult

‘We’ve been sold this idea that weight loss has to be extremely difficult; that you have to track everything, that you have to obsess over it, and, at the end of the day, it’s just not true,” she told followers.

Subsequently, she divulged her “secrets” online that “actually helped” when she was looking to lose weight.

“First, I let go of the idea that I was broken, that my metabolism was slow, that there was something about me that made me medium-sized. I let go of all excuses,” she said.

Another thing that many resort to is cutting out favourite foods, all in the name of “eating clean” and staying healthy.

But, the American influencer said that on diet, she only changed one thing, explaining: “The only thing that I changed was I reduced my portion sizes.

“This allowed me to feel like I could still eat anything that I wanted, which is true. You do not have to cut out any foods.”

Top dieticians at healthcare company Bupa similarly recommend portion control when it comes to getting slim. However, the amount you reduce the portion by depends on what sort of foods you're eating and, unfortunately, there's no hard and fast rule that you can apply to every meal.

Incorporating a calorie deficit into your diet can assist with weight loss

Meanwhile, many believe that it is not necessary to cut out calories to melt fat off your body; it matters more what types of foods you are eating.

And, along a similar vein, Elise's last intuitive hack, which she believed should be “ingrained into your head”, is to avoid eating when you are not hungry.

These last two tips both include cutting out calories, causing an overall calorie deficit, which is when you eat fewer calories than you burn, and is often cited as a go-to method to drop excess weight.

However, she specified that these were the tips that helped her personally with her goals. Of course, it is essential that you consult your doctor before making any major lifestyle changes.
