Vauxhall was one of the best-selling car brands in the UK last year

Vauxhall has announced a massive partnership with Team GB ahead of the Winter Olympics this February, with its UK boss looking to boost "Britishness".

The iconic British brand has been named as the official automotive partner of Team GB, less than a month before the team travels to Milan, Italy, to compete in the Winter Olympic Games.

Dame Katherine Grainger, Chair of the British Olympic Association, described Vauxhall as being a "trusted part of everyday life in Britain", adding it was "well-established".

She continued, saying: "Their commitment to a more sustainable future aligns with our own ambitions, and we are confident this partnership will make a meaningful difference.

"Vauxhall's support will play an important role as our athletes prepare for Milano Cortina 2026 and then LA28, and we look forward to working closely with them in the years ahead."

Vauxhall remains one of the UK's most popular brands, with an impressive 81,921 sales in 2025, representing more than four per cent of the new car market.

Despite being a stalwart on British roads, Vauxhall continues to grow in popularity, with a near-four per cent increase in registrations year-on-year.

It is also one of the biggest backers of electric vehicles, with an electric version of every car and van in its line-up, two of which are produced in the UK.

The historic Ellesmere Port is the UK's first EV-only volume manufacturing site, and currently produces the Combo Electric Life and Combo Electric van.

Eurig Druce, managing director of Vauxhall, said the partnership between the automaker and Team GB was a "perfect match between two iconic British names".

Mr Druce, who is also Stellantis UK Group managing director, said: "With 200 retailers across the country, Britain's best-selling small car, and a long history of UK manufacturing, Vauxhall is committed to supporting real people, real journeys, and real communities of Great Britain.

"We're proud to be backing the next generation of British talent as we help Team GB athletes prepare for Milano Cortina 2026 and LA 2028."

Mr Druce also highlighted the goals that Vauxhall had over the next 12 months, namely to "be on the podium of UK sales", adding that the brand has a plan to do so.

He told Auto Express: "The one sport that unites the UK population, unitesall the nations, is the Olympics. Team GB, Britishness; [Vauxhall] needs to be back on the podium for 2028, hence the partnership."

Vauxhall is aiming to achieve its sales targets with affordable vehicles, with all of its electric cars starting from under £40,000.

This includes its cheapest electric model, the Frontera Electric, which starts from £22,495, is eligible for the Government's Electric Car Grant, and is cheaper than the equivalent hybrid model.
