Some forecourts have reported delays for fuel deliveries

Petrol and diesel drivers continue to deal with high prices in response to the Middle East conflict, as some forecourts report the unavailability of fuel.

According to the latest data from RAC Fuel Watch, diesel drivers are facing the highest costs for more than three years, at a cost of more than 171p per litre.

Similarly, petrol drivers are expected to pay 147.19p per litre, the highest rate in almost two years.

Experts are now warning that petrol and diesel drivers will continue to be hit at the pumps over the coming weeks.

Simon Williams, head of policy at the RAC, warned that prices could soar to 150p a litre for petrol and 180p for diesel by Easter.

This would make it the most expensive Easter on UK roads since the months following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Drivers are facing additional challenges, with some forecourts reporting issues with the unavailability of fuel, further impacting motorists.

Reports stated that drivers were struggling to fill up at Woodall Services in South Yorkshire on the M1 between Junctions 30 and 31.

A spokesperson for Welcome Break told GB News: "We are currently experiencing stockouts of fuel on a small number of our sites.

"In the affected forecourts, the team are waiting on their next delivery which may have been delayed for a variety of reasons. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Very few locations have reported issues with the unavailability of fuel, although some planners have accounted for a widespread issue with the supply of fuel.

Emergency rules could see lower speed limits introduced, fuel rationing, and the army could even be brought in to drive fuel tankers.
