Polestar is aiming for 'low double-digit volume growth' in 2026

One of the most popular premium electric car brands in the world has confirmed the largest model offensive in its history as it prepares to launch four new models in the next three years.

Polestar has outlined its plans to introduce four new premium electric cars by 2028, alongside lofty financial expectations.

CEO Michael Lohscheller stated that it would take a "disciplined approach" over the coming years, with hopes of low double-digit volume growth and retail network expansion of 30 per cent.

Polestar will continue to add to its impressive lineup of electric cars with four new models, including a number of highly-anticipated releases.

The Polestar 5 GT was first presented in 2025, although customer deliveries are expected to commence later this summer.

The performance SUV has a range of up to 421 miles, a 0-60mph time of just 3.1 seconds and an impressive power output of up to 650kW.

Strikingly, the SUV, which starts from £89,500, does not feature a traditional rear window, with a set of high-definition cameras to give a wider and more targeted field of view.

Polestar will also release a new variant of its best-selling 4 model in a bid to target a wider customer base through the offer of "more versatility".

The Polestar 4 is the current best-seller for the brand, with the next-gen model attempting to combine the space of an estate and the versatility of an SUV.

Mr Lohscheller said: "Following our best sales year ever, we are now launching the largest model offensive in our history, with four premium EVs coming to market within three years.

"We are targeting the heart of the EV market, where customer demand and profit pools are high.

"Combined with our continued retail sales network expansion and a growing customer base, we are setting the foundations for profitable growth and operational improvement."

The Swedish brand's next-generation sedan will come in the form of the completely new successor to the Polestar 2, set for launch in early 2027.

Polestar has already sold 190,000 models and is among the most popular offerings from the brand, with Mr Lohscheller promising that it will "play a key role in our future success".

Capping off its plan for the next three years, the release of the Polestar 7 will see the brand introduce a "compact, premium SUV".

There are hopes for the model to launch in 2028 and break into the largest EV segment in Europe, which accounts for around one-third of total sales.

Mr Lohscheller added: "We are convinced that we can offer customers a progressive, performance-driven car for a very attractive price point, built in Europe.

"2025 was a year of continuous operational progress and delivery. With our attractive model line-up, strong shareholder support and partners with access to the latest technology, Polestar is set to become one of the winners of the automotive industry's transformation.”

Polestar acknowledged the "challenging geopolitical and economic environment", but still managed to deliver its best year ever for retail sales with more than 60,000 sales.
