A British car brand that was dissolved 15 years ago has made a triumphant return to the UK market, offering the first glimpse of its new production vehicle.

Jensen International has confirmed that it will produce a new ultra-high-performance car named the Jensen Interceptor GTX.

The first images come ahead of a global unveiling in the coming months, which the company pledged would be a pre-production vehicle.

The Interceptor GTX has been designed from the ground up with the brand's first clean-sheet design and hand-built aluminium body.

Jensen stated that the GTX would feature an aluminium chassis and a bespoke V8 engine that would deliver an "immersive analogue driving experience".

David Duerden, managing director of Jensen International, said the brand was "proud" to reveal the name of its first, entirely new model.

He added that he was "delighted" to have Jeff Qvale involved, who is the son of former Jensen Motors owner, Kjell Qvale.

Jeff Qvale has been appointed a key partner on the project and has been a leading player in the United States automotive sector.

Jensen noted that Mr Qvale spent time at the original Jensen Motors factory as a teenager when his father was the majority shareholder.

Mr Duerden added: "He brings a deep understanding of the Jensen brand and exceptional expertise in the global automotive and investment sectors.

"As a key partner, he will play a crucial role in bringing the Jensen Interceptor GTX to market."

While the new vehicle bears the Jensen Interceptor name, the British manufacturer confirmed that it was not a "continuation" of any previous model under the Jensen name.

Jensen Motors was founded in 1922 and became a key manufacturer in the UK until 1976 when it ceased trading, before resuming in 1998 after a £10million investment to produce the Jensen S-V8 convertible.

However, financial troubles blighted the company with lower-than-expected orders, prompting the company to dissolve in 2011.

Jeff Qvale said the new Jensen International project was "very personal" to him, adding that the brand was a big part of his family's life.

"Hand-built to the utmost quality, the Jensen Interceptor GTX will set new benchmarks and provide the pure, high-performance, ultra-analogue driving experience that discerning clientele are now demanding," he stated.

The new Jensen Interceptor GTX will be handcrafted in the UK in "ultra-low numbers", with the creation of a dedicated division focused solely on the development of the new model.

Mr Duerden concluded, saying: "Unveiled sixty years after the launch of the original Jensen Interceptor, the 2026 Jensen Interceptor GTX blends traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to confidently assert its own contemporary character.

"We look forward to revealing our first prototype very soon: a pre-production, ultra-high-performance special which will set pulses racing and take Jensen into new territory."
