Tommy Lee Jones has shared a 20-word statement after his daughter, Victoria, was found dead in a San Francisco hotel.
The Oscar-winning actor broke his silence on the tragic loss on Friday afternoon, California time - a day after her death on New Year's morning.
"We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers," a family statement reads.
"Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you."

Victoria Kafka Jones was found dead on January 1 in San Francisco's Fairmont hotel.
The city's Fire Department officers were called to the hotel in the early hours to reports of a medical emergency.
There, emergency responders found her on the ground of the 14th floor.
The Mail reported that a fellow guest alerted staff after finding Jones unresponsive in a corridor.

Ms Jones was born on September 3, 1991, and made her film debut aged just 11 through a small part in her father's sci-fi comedy Men in Black II.
She and brother Austin, 42, were born to Tommy and his second wife Kimberlea Cloughley - to whom he was married from 1981 to 1996.
Following her death, fans rushed to social media to share condolences with the Jones family.
"Really sad way to lose someone, especially a family member, on the first day of the year as well," one said.

"Heartbreaking. 34 is far too young. Condolences to the family."
Victoria had a handful of film roles in the noughties but took a step back from acting in 2005.
The pair frequently appeared together frequently on the red carpet, including in October 2018, when Tommy was on the jury of the Tokyo film festival.

Tommy Lee Jones, 79, won an Oscar and Golden Globe for his role in The Fugitive.
He has also starred in films including JFK, Lincoln, In the Valley of Elah and No Country for Old Men.
Tommy and his wife Dawn Laurel-Jones live on a 150-year-old Texas cattle ranch, and also spend time on a huge 74-acre polo estate in Buenos Aires, Argentina
