The Princess of Wales's younger sister has a strong background in running

Pippa Middleton delighted residents near her Berkshire home on Sunday when she joined the Kintbury 5, a charitable five-mile run hosted by Kintbury St Mary's Primary School close to Hungerford.

The Princess of Wales's younger sister, 42, appeared effortlessly composed throughout the course.

She cut a distinctly athletic figure in HOKA running shorts paired with a William's Racing cap, her race number 164 pinned to her top.

Her striking £250,000 diamond engagement ring was clearly visible as she navigated the muddy "tracks, trails, and quiet roads".

Fresh blue and white Hoka trainers completed her ensemble, with her hair swept back in a practical ponytail.

Pippa and her husband James Matthew share three children: Arthur, aged seven, Grace, five, and Rose, just three years old.

The Kintbury 5 organisers arranged activities for younger participants, raising the possibility the Matthews children could have joined their mother, though that remains unknown.

The charity run, which commenced at 10am, was billed as a "fun, lively run" traversing scenic countryside near the family's home.

Pippa boasts an extraordinary record in endurance athletics, having conquered the Great Wall Marathon in China across 26.2 miles in punishing heat.

Her achievements extend to the gruelling 3,000-mile Race Across America cycling challenge, a cross-continental swim through Istanbul's waters, and a demanding 47-mile Swedish event combining six miles of open-water swimming with 41 miles of trail running.

This passion for running is one she shares with her elder sister, the Princess of Wales.

Mike Tindall once joked that Catherine could "run all day" when selecting his fantasy rugby squad, choosing her for the wing position.

The Princess has acknowledged, however, that marathon running remains impossible for her owing to security constraints.

Pippa's Sunday outing offered a welcome moment of normality amid more challenging circumstances for the family.

They currently find themselves embroiled in a privacy dispute concerning their £15million, 32-bedroom residence, Barton Court.

Hearings are underway to establish whether an electric security gate erected on the property may remain in place.

Local residents have objected, arguing the driveway serves as an essential pedestrian route connecting two footpaths and allowing walkers to avoid hazardous roads.

Pippa has been notably absent from the ongoing Planning Inspectorate hearing where her husband continues to fight to keep a contested footpath on their Berkshire estate closed to the public.

Mr Matthews addressed the matter in written evidence: "There are implications for my family, due to their high public profile, which means there is a need for a higher level of security than would otherwise be the case if the circumstances were different."
