Neighbours actor Alan Fletcher has praised Amazon for reviving the hit Australian soap, as it makes its return after two years off-air.
Speaking to Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster on GB News Breakfast, the iconic soap actor revealed details of what’s to come from the reboot.
Fletcher said: “I'm still there, Sir. You can't get rid of me. I was thrilled to find out last year that I was one of the first cast invited to come back to Neighbours when Amazon revived the show, which was just the best news possible. And of course the millions of people who watched the last episode in the UK hopefully have just tuned in on Amazon Freevee and they can of course tune in all day to watch the very, very first episode of the reboot, Neighbours 3.0.
“Way back in 1995, Channel 7 in Australia axed the soap after about four months, but it was revived by Channel 10 to then run for 37 years. Of course, last year Neighbours passed away not through want of audience I have to say, but through lack of funding, and Amazon have stepped in to fill that bridge."
Fletcher continued: “So we were able to start up again with, I have to say, a bigger, better, most beautiful show with some fantastic storylines. I think Karl will be as good as he can possibly be - two years has passed since Neighbours last finished which has given us wonderful storylines for back story.
“We've opened our first episode with a wedding with a twist. And people are already filling up social media about this twist and my inbox is filling up rapidly with people who are watching the very first episode and loving it, which is wonderful. So we've got some wonderful new storylines.”
