The broadcaster was suspended following the social media post

Mike Graham has been sacked from his position at Talk following an "abhorrent and vile" social media post, bosses at News UK have said.

His co-star, Julia Hartley-Brewer, broke the news during the broadcast of her own show on Wednesday afternoon.

She told viewers: "We are going to go straight to PMQs in just a few minutes, but as you will have heard in the news, News UK — the parent company of this station, Talk — has made the following statement.

"Their statement reads as follows, 'We were made aware of an abhorrent and vile post on Mike Graham’s social platform several weeks ago.'

"'Mike Graham said this was not posted by him, and he agreed to cooperate with a company investigation using an independent forensic firm.'

"'He later reneged on several opportunities to cooperate with the company investigation.'

"'We have been greatly concerned at his repeated failure to cooperate on such a serious matter, and the decision has been taken that Mike Graham will not return to Talk.'"

Ms Hartley-Brewer went on: "I’m afraid that is as much as I can say on that matter."

The presenter went on to pre-empt the reception was going to receive from the station's fans.

"I know that is going to cause a lot of upset and a lot of concern for a lot of our audience who have been with us for a very, very long time," she said.

"But that is the official statement from the parent company of Talk, and that is where we are at in terms of Mike Graham, who will not be returning to this station.

The journalist, 65, was suspended from his breakfast show, Morning Glory, soon after his social media post was first published.

The post featured a picture of a statue of Churchill alongside a picture of a crowded Tube carriage, with the caption: 'Tell me we're not f***ed by multicultural b***cks.

'Why are we surrounded by non-white people? Just f*** off...'

Following the announcement by News UK, social media soon became awash with supporter of Mr Graham expressing their dismay at the decision.

One X user penned: "So Talk TV have just announced @Iromg Mike Graham will not be returning to Talk. Shame on @TalkTV utter shame."

A second echoed: "FFS... @Iromg was the best presenter on @TalkTV, mornings are not the same without him. I hope he starts his own YT show."

"So it's official. @Iromg Mike Graham will not be returning to Talk. @TalkTV appears to be on a suicide mission," a third remarked.

And a fourth dramatically typed: "OH NOOOOO! JUST HEARD SIR MIKE GRAHAM WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO TALK TV!"

Elsewhere, a fifth weighed in: "Mike Graham @Iromg has been sacked for speaking his mind. @TalkTV should hang their heads in shame. Good luck Mike!"

"Just been announced that Mike Graham will not return to Talk, I for one will find my daytime entertainment elsewhere and will follow Mike wherever he goes," a sixth warned. (sic)
