Comedian Al Murray has found himself at the centre of a rather heated debate on social media after he mocked "right-wingers" for their sensitivity to satire.
The 57-year-old, best known for his Pub Landlord alter-ego, took to X to poke fun at right-leaning members of the public after a new comedy sketch mocking Nigel Farage came under fire.
In a recent episode of the sketch show Spitting Image, Mr Farage was ridiculed in puppet form, with the Reform UK leader depicted unfavourably with exaggerated facial features and a cigarette in hand.
It also mocked Mr Farage for his stance on the St George's flag debate and what it symbolises, a row that continues to divide opinion.

Reform UK's policies were also mocked in the sketch, despite the political party surging in popularity in a number of public opinion polls.
After a clip of the skit was posted on the Spitting Image X page, it soon found itself under criticism. Critics branded the humour "outdated", "cringe", and "lefty slop".
While the sketch itself garnered plenty of attention from social media users, Mr Murray waded into the row by focussing his attention on the complaints lodged against it.
Spotting the chance to poke fun at those criticising the sketch, Mr Murray penned: "Right wingers you are meant to not care about jokes about you because you are the toughies remember? Such a disappointment." (sic)

It didn't take long for Mr Murray's inbox to explode, with furious reactions flooding in objecting to his stance on the matter.
When one fan questioned what Mr Murray was referring to, specifically, he clarified: "It's because we have Farage in Spitting Image currently.
"Some of his fans prompted this observation, but this has been going on for quite a while."
Among those quick to hit back at Mr Murray was one X user who fumed: "You made a living out of pretending to be working class, but you're an elitist now? Shame on you, hypocrite."

Mr Murray attempted to explain his position: "No, I'm making an observation about the right debasing itself and copying the left by doing something it used to despise. Work it out."
But similar complaints continued to rain in. "You making jokes about the working class again? What school did you go to Al?" a second X user probed.
Mr Murray fired back: "No. I'm making an observation about the pathetic business of the right stealing the humourless left's clothes. You can read."
"We're not turning the other cheek anymore, and you're s***ting it. Good," a third X user weighed in, somewhat in agreement with Mr Murray's point. "Snowflakes unite!" the comedian subsequently mocked.

Elsewhere, a fourth X user suggested that "vile insults" take things beyond jokes nowadays. "I might be a **** but I’ve never been a fascist or nazi and to suggest such is quite frankly an insult," they said, alluding to the strong language used by many of Mr Farage's critics.
"I'm talking about jokes. Read the tweet," Mr Murray once again hit back.
A fifth X user was less diplomatic in their reception to Mr Murray's post. "I always found Al quite funny. I realise his character was meant to be a parody, but I thought it was done from a place of affection," they began.
"I don't think those who watch him realise that he is a woke b*****d. I certainly didn't. Bit of a shame, really."

Mr Murray promptly hit back: "Are you saying this because I find people getting offended pathetic? Weird."
Hundreds of similar complaints have faced Mr Murray since he first took aim at "snowflake right-wingers" on Tuesday.
And after responding to dozens upon dozens of irked social media users, Mr Murray admitted he was blown away by the reception to his point.
"I've tweeted this point several times but it's not been spotted like this before," he said in another post. (sic)
