Australian authorities have launched an investigation into allegations pop star Katy Perry sexually assaulted actress Ruby Rose at a Melbourne venue fifteen years ago.
The claims were strongly denied by Katy Perry's representatives, who described them as "dangerous, reckless, lies" and "categorically false".
Victoria Police confirmed on Wednesday detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are examining claims of a historical sexual assault that reportedly occurred in 2010.
A police spokesman stated officers had been informed the alleged incident took place at licensed premises in Melbourne's central business district.

Ms Rose, best known for her role in Orange Is the New Black, indicated on Tuesday she had completed filing her reports with authorities and would therefore be unable to discuss the matter publicly while the inquiry proceeds.
The 40-year-old Australian actress first made her claims public on Sunday in a series of posts on Threads, alleging Ms Perry assaulted her at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne when she was in her early twenties.
Ms Rose provided graphic details of the alleged encounter, writing: "(Katy) didn't kiss me. She saw me 'resting' on my best friend's lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting v****a on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her."

The Batwoman star explained she had previously recounted the story publicly but reframed it as a "funny little drunk story" because she was uncertain how to process what had happened.
Ms Rose claimed she subsequently kept quiet because the I Kissed a Girl singer helped her obtain a US visa.
The 41-year-old singer has firmly rejected Ms Rose's accusations through her representatives.
"The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies," Ms Perry's spokesman told Variety.

The statement went on to allege: "Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."
Sources close to Ms Perry have suggested the singer was blindsided by the accusations.
According to The Sun, the pair have "a complicated backstory" and have "never really been friends," with the allegations coming "as a massive shock to everyone".
Ms Rose's initial claims emerged in response to Ms Perry's comments about Justin Bieber's Coachella performance last Saturday.
Ms Perry and her partner, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, made waves at the 2026 California music festival.
The couple, who have been romantically linked since mid-2025 and went "Instagram official" in December.
The controversy surrounding Ms Perry has intensified following the re-emergence of a 2014 television interview featuring Anna Kendrick.
During an appearance on Conan O'Brien's talk show, the Pitch Perfect actress alleged Ms Perry had inappropriately touched her cleavage at that year's Grammy Awards ceremony.

Describing the encounter, Ms Kendrick remarked sarcastically: "She's very mature."
When Mr O'Brien enquired whether Ms Perry simply behaves that way, Ms Kendrick responded that her revealing dress that evening meant she was "kind of asking for it".
The 40-year-old actress added: "If nobody had done it, I would've been a little sad."
The clip began circulating widely on social media in the days following Ms Rose's allegations against the Firework singer.
