The note stated: "The cheapest price for an alcoholic pint in The Farmer's Dog, the pub owned by Jeremy Clarkson is £6.75 according to their own menu."
The revelation did not escape the attention of other users, who swiftly accused the former Top Gear presenter of hypocrisy.
"Then why are the cheapest pints at your pub even more expensive than that, you hypocrite?" one person asked.
Another wrote: "You're having a laugh jezza! I paid over 7 quid at your place with your own ale in a plastic cup!!!"

A third simply suggested: "You might want to tell YOUR pub then."
Several users responded to the exchange by posting photographs of The Farmer's Dog menu, which showed numerous pints priced at £7.
One critic also aimed at Mr Clarkson's own beer brand, writing: "4 bottles of your Hawkstone beer is £8.50. Try sorting that."
"Last time I was in your pub you tried to charge me £7 for a pint," another angry X user posted. (sic)

However, not everyone was critical of the broadcaster, with some users coming to his defence.
One supporter argued: "His tweet doesn't mean he agrees with the prices set in his pub, it's probably taxation and everything else that bolsters the price up. It probably don't generate that much profit."
The defence reflects broader concerns about the financial pressures facing the hospitality sector, with pubs across the country struggling under rising costs, including increased rent and higher employer National Insurance contributions.
According to a survey by The Morning Advertiser, the average price of a pint has climbed to £5.17 in 2025, though this figure rises considerably in certain areas, reaching as high as £6.83 in London.

Mr Clarkson has been a prominent figure in the hospitality industry since purchasing The Farmer's Dog, his Cotswolds pub, in 2024.
He also produces Hawkstone, his own range of premium beers and ciders.
The broadcaster has been outspoken about the challenges of running such a business, and has clashed repeatedly with the Labour government over taxation.
Last year, he barred more than 400 Labour MPs from his pub in protest at what he described as a "tax raid" on hospitality.

"I was well ahead of the curve when I banned Starmer. Every Labour MP is barred now," he told The Sun. "It is a disgrace."
