But when it came to sketches involving the former One Direction member, not everything went according to plan.
Mr Whitehall admitted: “There was one that was me trekking for days trying to find him. He’d been living in a hut, looked like Hagrid, and then it had me shaving him.

He said: “I’m very excited, it’s the first time our families are ever coming together. I’ve met her family, but my family have not met her family."
The comedian continued: "My family, and it will come as no surprise to you, are a bunch of gilet-wearing chinless toffs, and her family are proper Cockney, all West Ham fans, proper salt of the earth.
"Her uncle Gary makes Danny look like Jacob Rees-Mogg. It’s a mash-up of Downton Abbey and EastEnders."
Elsewhere on the show, Danny and Dani Dyer opened up about family life and their careers.
The duo are currently filming their new series, The Dyers’ Caravan Park, where they restore a caravan park to its former glory.

Mr Dyer revealed, “I used to go down the caravan every year, it was my holiday in Canvey Island. I used to love it in the ’80s. I’ve said this in interviews and then Sky approached me about, ‘Do I want to run a caravan site?’”
The Dyers also reflected on personal milestones, including Dani's wedding.
Mr Dyer praised his son-in-law, West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen. "(He is) my hero and she f****** married him, it’s incredible. He’s an incredible man, but it’s a bonus, I can’t lie."
Ms Dyer added: “Yeah, you deserved someone like Jarrod. I kissed a few frogs and got my prince.”

She also spoke about her short-lived Strictly Come Dancing stint, which ended due to injury.
“I’d love to do it again. If they rang me, I’d answer the phone. I was devastated. It was hell for me when I hurt my foot. I was so sad,” she said.
Both she and her Dad shared amusing anecdotes about celebrity fans, including Margot Robbie and Eddie Redmayne, who both expressed admiration for Ms Dyer while she was on Love Island.
Patrick Dempsey, meanwhile, reflected on his career in Hollywood and beyond.
Dani Dyer is the daughter of actor and former EastEnders star Danny Dyer | GETTYDiscussing being named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, he said: “It was quite a shock at my age to be nominated and to get it.”
He also opened up about his charity work, explaining how the Dempsey Centre supports patients holistically.
“You come out of surgery and your treatment, you may be cured but you’re not healed, and that’s where we come in,” he said.
On leaving Grey’s Anatomy to return to his love of racing, Mr Dempsey added: “Acting is so subjective. There is only going to be one winner, and I think that’s what’s satisfying, it’s the competition.”
Finally, Self Esteem, ahead of her West End role and BRIT Awards nomination for Artist of the Year, revealed the origins of her stage name.
“Because I am pretentious. I wanted to have an artist’s name, like a band name but it was a solo project,” she explained.
The musician also spoke about her BRIT nomination: “It felt like it was my wedding day… Just getting there is lovely to achieve, we are going to go and celebrate. It’s daft that I was a kid watching it and it’s an honour to be invited.”
