Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has refused to apologise to JK Rowling despite describing their rift over trans rights as "very sad"

Women's rights activist Kelly-Jay Keen has blasted Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe for his refusal to apologise to JK Rowling over his criticism of her beliefs.

Radcliffe, along with Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, publicly displayed opposing views to Rowling on the trans debate and in a new interview, Radcliffe has admitted he hasn't spoken to the author for years and branded the fallout over their trans views as "sad".

In the interview with Atlantic, Radcliffe said: "There’s a version of ‘Are these three kids ungrateful brats?’ that people have always wanted to write, and they were finally able to.

"So, good for them, I guess … Harry Potter would not have happened without [Rowling], so nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is without that person.

Keen, who is an activist from Let Women Speak said: "I think what he's come out and said is revolting, obnoxious and ungrateful.

"But his silence when she was being horrifically targeted, when people were standing outside of her house and she received death threats, the fact that not once did he stand up and say, 'not in my name. I may not agree with the woman, but none of this is in my name'.

"She created a world that you all adore. It's just totally inappropriate behaviour."
