Fans were in meltdown last week after the 31-year-old announced the news and dropped a new single

Harry Styles has come under fire over the prices of his concert tickets, some of which are selling for up to £725.

The 31-year-old Watermelon Sugar hit-maker announced a new tour last week, much to the delight of fans who had long-suspected a major update from Mr Styles.

The former One Direction star will be making 50 stops in Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York City, Melbourne and Sydney from May this year.

On Monday, ticket prices were revealed when sales for the Amsterdam and London shows launched, and some fans' excitement soon turned to outrage.

Prices range from £72.95 to £725.45 for the London shows, while tickets for the Amsterdam leg were on sale for €74.05 to €828.62.

Raging fans took to social media to slam the eye-watering prices, with many labelling the popular singer "diabolical".

One X user fumed: "It was cheaper to see Taylor Swift… When she was playing 45+ songs a night…"

"@Harry_Styles The single concert ticket shouldn’t be more than the f***ing flight my man," a second complained.

A third shared: "I just realised the Harry Styles situation is even more grotesque bc the structure of the tour demands that people pay for transport + stay in those cities PLUS that astronomical ticket price. Truly diabolical from every angle. I really think he should apologise." (sic)

"I can’t defend Harry anymore, he drops a song the same day Louis drops his album he's not even doing an actual tour just residencies and his ticket pricings are ridiculous," another agreed.

Someone else noted: "I usually defend Harry (and have for the past 16 years of my life). At 27, I have actual s*** to pay for (rent, my car, bills etc). Going to concerts used to be a fun way to get out of the house; I can't spend thousands of dollars on tickets."

Similarly, another fan commented: "@Harry_Styles @HSHQ I defend you with my whole life but this is a bit much friend!!!! I'm gonna have to sell an organ to attend." (sic)

"There is absolutely no reason any artist no matter how popular can justify charging over 200 for a concert ticket. Can we stop buying these tickets so artists and teams stop charging ridiculous amounts," another argued.

One more asked: "And since when Harry is on Taylor/Beyonce level? Mind you even them didn't have these prices."

Mr Styles is offering three VIP packages for his residency, the tickets for which are the most expensive.
