Gordon Ramsay has spoken publicly for the first time about the ongoing dispute with Adam Peaty's parents, maintaining that neither he nor his wife Tana bears any responsibility for the rift.
In a new interview, the celebrity chef addressed the controversy surrounding his daughter Holly's wedding to the Olympic swimmer, which took place at Bath Abbey in December.
"It's just upsetting," Mr Ramsay said: "It's all self-inflicted from their side, because we've done nothing.
"None of what you've read: no rudeness, no ignorance, we welcomed them."

The chef said to MailOnline: "We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty.
"So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously."
The TV star also rejected claims that he made disparaging remarks about Mr Peaty's family during his father-of-the-bride speech.

Mr Ramsay walked his daughter, Holly, down the aisle

"I was told we were accused of saying inappropriate things," Mr Ramsay stated. "Nothing at all was said that was inappropriate, I promise you."
The restaurateur described his speech as "very warm, very witty" and shared some of the jokes he had written himself.

Mr Ramsay also quipped about his daughter's twin brother Jack serving as a Royal Marine: "I know you can swim fast, but he has a boat with a big f****** gun on it!"
The culinary expert made clear that the decision to exclude Mr Peaty's parents from the ceremony came entirely from the newlyweds themselves.
He explained: "It was Adam and Holly's wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that."
The chef emphasised that the family tensions predating the wedding were not his concern to resolve.
"There's stuff they need to sort out as parents," he added. "That's nothing to do with Tana and me."
Mr Peaty's father had reportedly been offered the chance to attend but would have been required to watch from the rear of the church, an invitation he declined.
The only member of the Peaty family present at the Bath Abbey ceremony was Mr Peaty's sister Bethany, who served as one of his new wife's bridesmaids.

Despite the hurt caused by recent events, Mr Ramsay expressed hope that the situation could be resolved through direct communication.
The wedding drama had been building for weeks before the December ceremony. Mr Peaty's mum was allegedly left "devastated" after being excluded from her daughter-in-law's hen weekend at Soho Farmhouse.
The situation escalated further when Mr Peaty's brother James was arrested and bailed on suspicion of harassment while the Olympic swimmer was celebrating his stag do in Budapest. The swimmer's sibling was also absent from the wedding day.
Sources close to the Peaty family have indicated that Mr Peaty's parents have now "given up hope" of mending their relationship with their son in the near future.
