George Clooney and his wife Amal have officially obtained French citizenship, according to AFP, which reported seeing an official decree confirming the news.
The double Oscar-winning actor, 64, and the renowned human rights lawyer, 47, have now formalised plans they had hinted at earlier this month when the Hollywood star spoke approvingly of France's privacy protections during a radio appearance.
The couple, who wed in 2014, will be relocating from the United States alongside their eight-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
French media outlets have reported that the family's citizenship was granted shortly after the Christmas period.

The Clooneys are among a growing number of high-profile Americans choosing to leave the country and establish themselves elsewhere.
The actor has been candid about his motivations for the transatlantic move, citing France's strict laws preventing photographers from targeting children as his primary concern.
"Here, they don't take photos of kids. There aren't any paparazzi hidden at the school gates. That's number one for us," Clooney told RTL radio earlier this month.
Speaking to Esquire, he elaborated on his anxieties about bringing up his children in Los Angeles, explaining that he worried they would never receive a fair chance at life within Hollywood's culture.

The family already has strong ties to France, having purchased a property on a former wine estate in Provence back in 2021, reportedly situated near the town of Brignoles.
Their French residence forms part of an extensive international property portfolio that includes homes in Lake Como, Italy, England, Los Angeles, and Los Cabos, Mexico.
While Amal, who is British-Lebanese, is said to be fluent in French, her husband has been rather more forthcoming about his linguistic limitations.
