The GB News star openly discussed death with pal and former ITV colleague Coleen Nolan

Eamonn Holmes bravely and candidly opened up about his own funeral plans during a recent podcast with Loose Women's Coleen Nolan.

The Breakfast star opened up about grief, his family's approach to death growing up and his own send-off plans as well as wife Ruth Langsford's.

During the discussion and much to the surprise of Nolan, Eamonn admitted he and his other half don't plan to be buried next to one another when they die.

In fact, Eamonn admitted they'd even consider being buried in different countries given his desire to be laid to rest in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

"We have a family plot in Belfast where my mum and dad are and there's room for four more others," Eamonn told Nolan when they broached the subject of his own funeral.

He continued: "Ruth would rather be somewhere anonymous in Surrey or wherever where neither she nor I have any relations so nobody is ever going to visit you."

Eamonn outlined his wife's desires further as he said: "She wants to be cremated and I don't want to be cremated.

"I very definitely know my view (from my resting place) - Cave Hill to my right, Belfast Lock to my left..."

"Have you had this discussion with Ruth?" Nolan cut in as she was clearly surprised by her Loose Women co-star's stance on her own send-off.

Eamonn confirmed they had and when Nolan probed if it had presented any arguments as a result, Eamonn replied: "No, no, no.

"She doesn't care - she's not religious, and she's not interested in sentimentality or anything like that, she just wants burnt and scattered."

"Does she want to be put with you?" Nolan asked again to which Eamonn answered: "It doesn't matter."

Eamonn has been married to Langsford since 2010 and the pair share 21-year-old son Jack together.

Showing his dry sense of humour as they continued to discuss his own funeral plans, Eamonn quipped: "If it's not too much to ask, no lower than a bishop conducting or maybe a cardinal, or even a monseigneur.

"I'd stop short of a state funeral," he remarked to a giggling Nolan who encouraged him: "Do you expect a holiday work-wise?"

Eamonn hilariously replied with a chuckle: "Well I would like people in the streets with their heads bent for at least a mile."

The husband and wife duo were familiar faces on ITV and one of the nation's best-loved presenting duos before they announced their departure from This Morning back in 2021.

Eamonn has continued to entertain viewers on the People's Channel alongside Isabel Webster each morning, delivering the latest headlines and sharing his own views on topical matters, while Langsford continues to front Loose Women.

Langsford is still no stranger to keeping Eamonn in line when he appears on GB News, however, with her husband hilariously halting the show a few weeks back thanks to a cheeky complaint from his other half.

While Eamonn was live on air during a Breakfast show back in August, Langsford had contacted him to complaint about the height of his chair.

In a hilarious on-air moment, Eamonn, with the help of the GB News crew, adjusted his seat before quipping: "Is that okay, Ms Langsford? Is that okay? That meets your requirements?"
