The People's Channel fan-favourite promptly put the former BBC employee in his place on social media

Camilla Tominey has hit back at LBC and The News Agents presenter Lewis Goodall after he attempted to ridicule GB News on social media.

Mr Goodall took to X to react to a clip of Camilla from her Sunday politics show on the People's Channel in which she interviewed Darren Jones MP, the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister.

In the clip, Camilla put Mr Jones on the spot over the number of private schools that have had to shut their doors thanks to the government's VAT policy.

As a result of Labour's tax measures, 105 schools have been forced to close, and approximately 25,000 pupils have had to seek education elsewhere.

Camilla also grilled Mr Jones on the claim that living standards for the poorest have become worse since Sir Keir Starmer and his Labour government took office.

The interview sparked an interesting debate among X users online once it was shared by GB News, but it also prompted a rather sarcastic reaction from Mr Goodall.

Despite spending much of the day on the receiving end of criticism for the way he handled an LBC caller from Africa who supported President Trump's capture of Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro, Mr Goodall still found time for a dig at Camilla and the People's Channel.

"Ah that is sad," he sarcastically wrote in response to the interview, before he continued: "Think this is worse though!"

Mr Goodall accompanied his X post with a graph allegedly showing "how school funding per pupil has changed since 2004". The graph showed the gap between private and state schools had widened in the past 20 years.

He then took aim at GB News as a whole: "Still, good to know the 'people’s channel' has its priorities right."

Camilla wasted no time in batting away Mr Goodall's attempted gotcha moment. "If 25,000 pupils leave private education, it adversely affects state schools, Lewis," she pointed out.

Camilla went on: "Despite your Oxford education, you’ve rudely tried to 'school' an African on Africa today, and been rightly pilloried for it - so maybe wind your turtle neck in?"

But Mr Goodall didn't stop there. "Or, bear with me here…it might create a level playing field? Which, we want? Right?" he asked.

"Meanwhile, I look forward to your putting a single one of the millions of Africans who abhor colonialism and think it was one historic crime after another appearing on your show.

"Oh wait, you won’t! And I did get into a great university, much like yourself. And my parents didn’t even have to pay for it," he swiped, alongside a smiley face emoji.

Once again, Camilla put Mr Goodall back in his box. "Sorry you lost me at advocating school closures and teacher redundancies," she hit back.

"After today, I’m not sure you’re in a position to advise anyone else on presentation.

"I managed to get into university despite being the sole carer of my mother, who was a chronic alcoholic. You know what it taught me? Humility.

"Maybe give it a try one day," Camilla continued before brilliantly signing off: "Thanks for watching as ever x."

Mr Goodall floundered as he insisted he was "not advocating any school closures" but rather "for fairness" before claiming the issue was given a disproportionate amount of airtime in the media.

But by that point, the damage was done as several X users waded into the debate to urge Mr Goodall to back down after Camilla dismantled his argument.

One X user pointed out: "@Lewis_goodall are you this sneering to your colleagues, Jon Sopel and Emily Maitliss for choosing private school for their children? Socialism for thee, but not for me... whilst advocating for fairness."

A second also hit out: "Camilla is a journalist. You have the air an of an activist. We can all see who you work for and where that chain leads. I’m working class and my son goes to private school. We need more private schools, not less."

"Just STOP. Know when you’re beaten man," a third encouraged, before a fourth echoed: "Taking away from independent schools does not benefit state schools. Socialism really is fair shares of misery for everyone, ain't it?" (sic)
