Ian Waite has indicated he would be open to returning to BBC Strictly Come Dancing following a 17-year absence from the flagship programme.
The former professional dancer, currently working on the Australian edition of the show, stated that any potential comeback would hinge on the celebrity participants.
When questioned about which stars he would like to see compete, Mr Waite acknowledged the challenge of finding fresh faces.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: "It's tricky because so many have already done it.

"You go through names and think no, they've done it, they've done it."
His comments arrive amid ongoing speculation about behind-the-scenes changes at Strictly, with professional dancers leaving and reportedly being dropped from the programme.
Mr Waite did identify a couple of dream celebrity partners who might tempt him back to the ballroom.
Radio and television presenter Roman Kemp topped his list, with Mr Waite praising his personality as a key factor that would make him a strong competitor.
Karen Hauer was among the professional dancers dropped by BBC bosses | BBCOlympic diving champion Tom Daley also featured among his preferred choices.
"He's retired from diving now and we haven't had him on the show," Mr Waite explained. "He could be a really good fit. Maybe they could bring me back to dance with him."
The dancer admitted he struggles to keep up with potential contestants, joking that he does not watch much television these days.
His remarks were made in collaboration with online casino experts Casino.org.

| GETTYMr Waite knows all too well the pain of being cut from the programme, having experienced it himself in 2009.
"It is devastating. Nobody wants to be sacked from their job," he recalled. "I remember I was on tour in Plymouth when the producers came down to tell us. It was a real shock."
Despite the difficult experience, the dancer expressed understanding for the production team's position.
"You do have to look at it from the producers' point of view," he said. "Sometimes they have to make tough decisions to keep improving the show."

Mr Waite suggested that such shake-ups could prove beneficial for those who remain on the roster.
"It might push people to work harder and raise their game," he added. "It could end up being a good thing overall."
Following his unexpected departure from the main show, Waite's career took an unforeseen direction when he transitioned to the spin-off programme It Takes Two.
He went on to present the companion show for an entire decade, though the beginning proved challenging.
"At first I had no idea what I was doing," he admitted. "But after a couple of years it all started to click."
