The Met Office has confirmed a weather warning is in place as heavy rain is set to hit large parts of the UK.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for large parts of the south, stretching from south Wales to the east coast of England, covering cities like Cardiff, Bristol and London.
A spokesman warned there could be more rain falling over the weekend than fell in the entirety of England throughout June 2024.
The forecaster said: "Frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected for much of Saturday before fading from the west during the mid to late afternoon."
They continued: "10-15 mm of rain could fall in less than an hour, whilst some places could see 30-40 mm of rain over several hours from successive showers and thunderstorms.
"Frequent lightning, hail and strong, gusty winds will be additional hazards."
Andrea Bishop, a Met Office spokeswoman, said: "We are keeping an eye on a new front which looks like it will move in on Friday night, bringing rain which could be heavy, and possibly thundery at times on Saturday.
"Rainfall totals of 20-30mm are likely in places and at present, this looks like it will affect the southern half of the UK."

PADuring intense thunderstorms, the Met Office advises: "Consider if your location is at risk of flash flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
"Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
"People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
"If you find yourself outside and hear thunder, protect yourself by finding a safe enclosed shelter (such as a car)."
