More Britons are looking to book package holidays

Skyscanner has unveiled a new Package Holidays comparison feature today, letting British travellers browse deals from leading providers including TUI, Jet2, easyJet Holidays, Lastminute, Expedia, Loveholidays and OnTheBeach.

The global travel platform's latest tool scans 25 million holiday packages daily across desktop, mobile and its app.

This launch comes amid a rising interest in bundled holidays, with Skyscanner's figures showing a 113 per cent rise in package holiday demand since January began.

More than half of UK travellers (52 per cent) are now contemplating a package booking for 2026, with 62 per cent hoping to do this as a way of saving money.

Perhaps unexpectedly, younger generations are at the forefront of this package holiday renaissance.

Research from Skyscanner reveals that 32 per cent of Gen-Z respondents have a preference for bundled trips in 2026, while 28 per cent of millennials shared this inclination. Both figures surpass the 23 per cent recorded among older age groups.

The motivations behind this are more for practical reasons than nostalgia for traditional holiday formats, however.

Cost was the main reason, 62 per cent, followed by reduced complexity at 53 per cent and the ease of having everything in a single booking at 50 per cent.

The new service will work by allowing users to select their preferred destination and travel dates, and Skyscanner will give them options, including all-inclusive packages alongside beach and city breaks.

Filters for star ratings and board type help narrow results, and holidaymakers complete their purchase directly with the provider. All listed packages carry ATOL protection.

Skyscanner's travel expert, Laura Lindsay, said: "January is the busiest month of the year for travel planning, and who isn't dreaming of palm trees and sun-soaked beaches with the wintry weather?

"But our research shows that for many, finding that perfect holiday can feel overwhelming, with value for money top of mind. We're excited to bring our industry-leading price comparison tech (which travellers already trust us for with flights, hotels, and car hire) to packages.

"With more and more choice in how package holidays are constructed, travellers need an easier way to compare all of the options in one place, to find great deals without the hassle."
