Holiday hotspots in Morocco, Spain and more promise temperatures in the high 20s and up

British holidaymakers desperate to escape the grey winter skies have plenty of options for guaranteed sunshine this Easter.

easyJet Holidays has launched a brand new sun-reliability index that draws on a quarter-century of weather records to identify the destinations most likely to deliver warm, dry April days.

Topping the list is Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh, where travellers can expect an almost certain chance of sunshine – between 98 per cent and 100 per cent of days are predicted to be sunny and dry.

The purpose-built family resort city offers temperatures reaching up to 30°C and between 10 and 11 hours of daily sunshine, making it the ultimate spot for those craving vitamin D after winter.

Coming in at second place is Sal in Cape Verde, which boasts Caribbean-style turquoise waters and pristine white sandy beaches.

The island paradise enjoys around nine hours of sunshine daily with temperatures hovering around 25°C. Rainfall chances sit between just 0 per cent and five per cent, making it virtually rain-free during the Easter period.

The margins between these top two spots are incredibly tight, with both destinations achieving close to 100 per cent reliability for sunny, dry conditions.

While Sharm El Sheikh edges ahead on temperature, Sal takes the crown for those prioritising bone-dry weather above all else.

Package holidays to Sharm El Sheikh start from £659 per person, while Sal begins at £799pp. The cheapest deals, however, are for holidays in Portugal.
