He said: “Autumn is my favourite season to explore the lesser-known destinations in Portugal.
"I'm thinking about places like Évora, Óbidos, and the Serra da Estrela mountains that invite you to explore a very different Portugal compared to the coastal regions."
Évora is a city in Portugal steeped in history. Holidaymakers can visit the Cathedral of Évora or soak in the Gothic and baroque architecture.
Or head to Óbidos, where Britons can wander charming cobbled streets or stroll by ancient castle walls. There are plenty of viewpoints where you can stop and take in the incredible panoramic views of the medieval town.

For something a bit different, the Serra da Estrela mountains give tourists a chance to see another side of Portugal, away from the much-loved beaches and old towns.
The highest mountain range in continental Portugal is a great place for walking or hiking, and it promises visitors unforgettable views.
Speaking of the hidden gems, Trinkhaus added: "The climate is perfect - lots of sunshine, noticeably fewer tourists than in summer, and, unlike spring, hardly any rain.
"It’s the ideal season for wandering through history and landscapes without the crowds, while soaking up the beauty of this incredible country.”
