British holidaymakers have something to look forward to this summer

AirAsia X is bringing back flights from London Gatwick to Kuala Lumpur, with daily services kicking off on June 26, 2026.

It's the first time travellers can fly this route since 2012, making it an exciting update for anyone dreaming of Malaysian adventures.

The airline will use A330 aircraft for the journey, with a stopover in Bahrain along the way.

Malaysia's vibrant capital has long been a favourite with UK tourists, and now getting there just got a whole lot easier for those flying from the south of England.

With this new service, Kuala Lumpur becomes the 15th Asian destination available from Gatwick, marking a milestone for the airport's growing long-haul network.

For Britons hoping to go further afield, the route opens up seamless connections to some incredible places across the region, including Jakarta, Manila, Tokyo and Melbourne.

Some 57 long-haul routes will be on offer from Gatwick this summer, giving plenty of options for a far-flung holiday.

Fifteen of those head to Asia, giving British travellers plenty of choice when it comes to exploring that part of the world.

CEO of London Gatwick, Pierre-Hugues Schmit, said: "The arrival of AirAsia X and flights to Kuala Lumpur is fantastic news for London Gatwick passengers. The new daily service will provide excellent opportunities to visit the city or onward connectivity across the region, ideal for holidaymakers, businesses and the many British-Malaysian families who will now have even better options for visiting friends and relatives.

"AirAsia X is the latest airline to choose to fly from London Gatwick, ahead of what will be a fantastic summer for our passengers.

"Our ever-expanding list of carriers and destinations, combined with our unwavering commitment to excellent passenger service, means London Gatwick really is the airport for everyone, whatever your journey."
