The flights will run twice a week

Travellers in the Scottish Highlands will have more options, as direct flights between Inverness and Dublin are set to return this spring.

Aer Lingus Regional, which is exclusively operated by Emerald Airlines, will launch the new service on May 21, 2026.

The route will take off twice each week, with departures scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays.

This marks the first time Aer Lingus has operated from Inverness Airport, boosting the link between the Highlands and Ireland's vibrant capital city.

For those looking to venture further afield, the summer schedule has been timed to connect with Aer Lingus transatlantic services heading to New York JFK and Boston.

It will help Highland residents wanting to reach North America without the hassle of travelling south first. Dublin is a fantastic destination in its own right.

The Irish capital offers everything from historic cobbled streets and cultural hotspots to a legendary music scene and warm hospitality.

There's also easy access to stunning coastal areas and countryside escapes just beyond the city.

Inverness airport manager, Dan Mason, said: "It is exciting to see the return of direct flights between Inverness and Dublin, restoring a route that has been missed by passengers across the Highlands and Islands.

"This service not only reconnects the region with Ireland's capital but it also provides onward access to North America via Aer Lingus transatlantic flights, including New York and Boston, with convenient connection times through Dublin.

"Welcoming Aer Lingus to Inverness for the first time is a positive step for regional connectivity and passenger choice, and we are thrilled to work with the airline as the route launches and develops."

Britons will get more routes this year as flights from the UK to "one of Europe’s most charming cities" are set to roll out in 2026.

Holidaymakers will be able to travel from Glasgow Airport to Zurich in Switzerland, starting in May.
