The flights will run twice a week

Britons looking to explore more of Europe this year can take advantage of new flights going to Switzerland this spring.

Glasgow Airport has announced a brand-new route to Zurich, operated by Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss.

Taking off on May 29, 2026, passengers will be able to fly directly to Switzerland’s largest city twice a week, every Monday and Friday, until September 14, 2026.

This new connection offers Scottish travellers more access to Zurich, a city renowned for its stunning lakeside setting, vibrant cultural scene and proximity to the Swiss Alps - around a one-hour drive away.

Scotland’s largest city is also ready to welcome visitors from Switzerland. Aviation Director at AGS Airports, Chris Tibbett, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Edelweiss to Glasgow Airport with this exciting new service to Zurich.

"This route not only offers our passengers direct access to one of Europe’s most charming cities with world-class museums and stunning Alpine views but also provides seamless connectivity via its efficient Zurich hub.

“The addition of Edelweiss strengthens our long-standing partnership with the Lufthansa Group and enhances travel options for both leisure and business passengers across Scotland.”

Other UK airports will also welcome new routes this year. Manchester Airport has confirmed seven new routes going to vibrant cities, white sandy beaches and more top tourist spots.

This includes brand-new connections to Montpellier in southern France, Sicily's vibrant capital Palermo, the Greek island of Samos and Spain's Costa del Azahar gateway, Castellon.

Down south, Britons can book new routes from London Stansted to Turkey, Spain, France and more.

The new services come from a number of popular carriers, including easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and SunExpress, giving Britons plenty of options for 2026 holidays.
