Cruisegoers can now book new 8-day Christmas market voyages down two iconic European rivers

Both routes will set sail for the first time on November 25, 2026, giving travellers the chance to experience the magic of traditional European Christmas markets.

Each journey will be led by Trafalgar's Experience Directors and Local Specialists, promising an immersive festive adventure through some of the continent's most charming cities.

The Rhine Christmas Markets cruise will sail aboard the 128-passenger Trafalgar Verity, journeying from Basel to Düsseldorf over eight days.

Passengers can look forward to stopping at festive markets in historic destinations including Basel, Strasbourg, Cologne and beyond.

One of the highlights is a 'Be My Guest' experience in Rüdesheim, where guests will enjoy local wine and artisanal food at the Breuer family's traditional weingasthaus.

After the inaugural sailing, the Trafalgar Verity will continue operating throughout the festive season, with multiple departures in December 2026 and throughout late November and December 2027.

Prices for the Rhine itinerary start at $3,299 (around £2,450) per person, based on double occupancy.

The Danube Christmas Markets voyage takes passengers aboard the 128-passenger Trafalgar Reverie, travelling from Budapest to Passau across eight magical days.

This route includes stops at enchanting Christmas markets in Budapest, Vienna, Passau and other festive destinations along the way.

Bratislava features prominently on the itinerary, where guests can explore the city's Cold War history through first-hand accounts from a Local Specialist as part of a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER Experience.

The Danube sailing will also run multiple departures following the inaugural voyage, with trips scheduled throughout December 2026 and late November to December 2027.

Prices for this itinerary begin at $2,999 (£2,230) per person, based on double occupancy.
