With summer in full swing, it's time to add a new 'must-see' UK destination to your list

Looking for a great staycation spot? A comprehensive study examining satisfaction among Britain's over-60s has identified two Buckinghamshire towns as the nation's premier locations.

While Britain's beaches are revered as summer holiday gems, the research, conducted by financial service specialist L&G, found that factors such as access to nature and local facilities matter more than seaside locations for mature Britons.

It found where people are happiest in retirement, but these places could also make a great holiday spot, especially among those over the age of 60. For those seeking the perfect summer break, picturesque and "leafy" Chesham and Amersham received the highest overall "happiness" score among over-60s residents, making them an optimal choice for a mature staycation.

Chesham is home to the Babbling Brook of Waterside, a natural water feature often described as 'The talk of Chesham'.
