Holidaymakers can book packages or flights

Budget carrier easyJet has unveiled three fresh summer routes from UK airports, with Newcastle set to become a new base for the airline.

Travellers from the North East will soon be able to jet off to Rome Fiumicino and Lisbon, while Manchester passengers are getting a brand-new connection to Bari in southern Italy.

Britons can already take advantage of the route as it went on sale today, with one-way fares starting from just £33.99.

Those who fancy a package deal can also snap up easyJet holidays breaks, with prices beginning at £199 per person for a three-night Lisbon getaway.

The Rome route kicks off on March 30, 2026, perfectly timed for families wanting to make the most of the Easter break, with fares from £33.99. Lisbon flights follow from June 22, 2026, starting at £43.99 one-way.

Both Newcastle services will run twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, making them ideal for long weekend city escapes.

In Manchester, the Bari connection launches on July 3, 2026, operating on the same days with prices from £38.99.

Package holidays through easyJet holidays cover all three destinations, bundling flights with accommodation, 23kg luggage allowance, and transfers included on Bari beach breaks.

easyJet's UK country manager, Kevin Doyle, said: "We're excited to be launching new routes and packages from Manchester and Newcastle to three of Europe's popular destinations, providing customers with even more choice and connectivity, whether they're looking for a cultural city getaway or relaxing beach break.

"In our 30th year, we are set to operate our biggest ever flying programme this summer, offering more than 50 million seats to and from the UK, and remain committed as we ever have been to making travel easy."

Director of aviation development at Newcastle Airport, Leon McQuaid, added: “Lisbon is a brand-new destination from Newcastle Airport and one we’ve been keen to deliver for the region on the back of strong customer demand and feedback, so it’s fantastic to see flights and package holidays now on sale, alongside easyJet’s new route to Rome.

“These services further strengthen easyJet’s growing network from Newcastle Airport, with 22 routes now available, providing even more choice for the region.

"With just two months to go until easyJet opens its new base, this investment is not only delivering exciting new routes but will also bring significant economic benefits to the North East, including creating 130 direct jobs and supporting around 1200 UK jobs in total as well as attracting more visitors to the North East England region."

This comes as a UK airport announced seven fresh routes for summer 2026 - including a return to sunny holiday hotspots.
