British holidaymakers love a city break, and the majority of people are keen to visit spots in Europe, according to new research.
Amsterdam, Rome and Barcelona beat out long-haul Asian destinations in the findings by Titan Travel.
It analysed searches between November 2024 and October 2025 to see where British holidaymakers want to go, with European cities dominating the top 10 list.
Outside of Europe, cities in Morocco, Japan and Thailand were named among some of the best.

Amsterdam is the most searched city by Britons

Amsterdam soared to the top of the list with more than one million searches. The vibrant city has culture, picturesque canals, museums and more to keep holidaymakers entertained.
TRAVEL INSPIRATION
The experts said: "With double the amount of searches as the second most popular city destination, Amsterdam is by far the most popular city with British tourists.
"Due to its location and reputation, the Dutch capital has long been a favourite destination for UK holidaymakers. Following a short flight or ferry ride, tourists can enjoy the city's delights, from its charming canals and interesting museums to its renowned nightlife."
In second place is Rome, which was described as "an open museum" thanks to cultural landmarks that paint a picture of the Roman Empire.
The travel pros added: "It is hard not to be impressed by Roman architecture, and many people desire to visit Rome to see jaw-dropping spectacles such as the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Pantheon."

Barcelona has 4km of sandy beaches
| GETTYRounding out the top three is Barcelona, where holidaymakers get all the culture of a city break, but also have the option for more relaxation by visiting more than 4km of sandy beaches.
The experts said: "With a combination of appealing factors, it is perhaps unsurprising that Barcelona received so many travel-related Google searches from British tourists.
"Located in Spain’s northern Catalan region, Barcelona is simultaneously a coastal destination, a historic cultural city, and a vibrant modern city full of shops, restaurants, and bars, which allows it to cater to the young, the old, and all in between."
