Carnival Cruise Line overhauls its private island with more beaches and upgraded dining - exclusive for cruisegoers

The island is exclusive for guests of Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line, who both use it as a stop on some of their cruise itineraries.

Guests can take advantage of brand-new loungers and umbrellas at no extra cost, which is useful for anyone watching their holiday budget.

For a bit more luxury, there are cabanas and daybeds available to reserve, offering added comfort for a proper day of relaxation by the turquoise waters. The food and drink options have had a refresh, too, with five venues now serving up island-style treats.

Orchid Beach Grill and Hibiscus Beach Grill are dishing out full buffets, while Luna Tide Beach Bar, Stay Awhile Beach Shack, and Lil' Tiki Bar keep the refreshing beverages flowing.

Everything is set in shaded spots right on the beachfront, so you can grab a bite without straying far from the sand.

For British holidaymakers dreaming of escaping the grey skies, this means more choice when it comes to tropical dining, all with Caribbean views as a backdrop.

Getting to the island has become much easier thanks to a brand new pier that allows ships to dock directly. This is particularly exciting because Excel-class vessels can now visit for the first time.

A tram service has been introduced to whisk guests around all areas of the island, making everything wonderfully accessible. Those who want a stroll can take the scenic Papaya Pathway, a picturesque walking route perfect for exploring on foot.

This comes as Carnival Cruises rolls out a new "express" dining option, giving guests more flexibility on board. It is perfect for guests who want a sit-down meal without spending half their evening at the table.

Express Dining serves up a freshly prepared multi-course dinner in under an hour, available every night in the main dining room.
