With schools returning after the summer holidays, many adults will be eyeing up a late-season escape before autumn sets in. New research has revealed the UK’s top-rated adults-only campsites, which offer peace and value for money.
The study assessed average summer temperatures, the cost of a three-night stay, the percentage of visitors who would recommend the site, and the number of activities within easy reach.
From Shropshire’s countryside to Cornwall’s coast, the results from outdoor experts at GO Outdoors highlighted the best locations for those after a quiet getaway.
Colemere Caravan Park, Ellesmere, Shropshire, and Eden Valley Holiday Park, Bodmin, Cornwall, were in joint first place, both receiving a score of 8.83 out of 10.

Tucked away by a peaceful lake near Ellesmere, Colemere Caravan Park is a hit with walkers and cyclists alike.
A three-night stay costs around £60 in peak season, or £20 a night - making it the most affordable of the top sites. With 100 per cent visitor recommendations and on-site facilities including showers, a kitchen and a communal area, it’s no surprise the site earned joint first place.
Eden Valley Holiday Park, Cornwall
Set in Bodmin, one of Cornwall’s oldest towns, Eden Valley scored equally high with a 4.92/5 rating and unanimous guest approval. At £90 for three nights, it offers good value in a county famed for pricier accommodation.
With nearby pubs, a games room and easy access to the Bodmin Railway and local cycling trails, it’s a strong option for those keen to explore Cornwall.

Rated 4.94/5, it’s particularly welcoming for dog owners thanks to its enclosed walking area.
