The brand new route will launch next year, with flights on sale now

British Airways will become the only UK airline flying directly to St. Louis when it launches a new service from London Heathrow in April 2026.

The timing couldn't be better – it's perfectly aligned with the 100th anniversary of the legendary Route 66, which passes right through the Missouri city.

The flag carrier will operate flights four times weekly throughout the summer season, with the inaugural flight taking off on April 19, 2026. Return tickets will start at £529, and they're already on sale.

This latest addition brings BA's US network to 27 destinations – more than any other UK airline.

Travellers can choose between three cabin classes on the new route. World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and Club World (business class) will all be available.

Those flying Club World on selected flights will get to experience BA's latest business class seat, Club Suite. It's got everything you'd want – direct aisle access, a fully flat bed and a 17-inch entertainment screen.

The dining's pretty special too, with a brasserie-style menu featuring freshly prepared starters, mains, desserts and cheeses. The flights will depart Heathrow at 16:25 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in St. Louis at 19:30 local time.

St. Louis has plenty to offer visitors beyond its Route 66 connection. The city's famous Gateway Arch stands as an iconic landmark, while Forest Park – one of America's largest urban parks – provides vast green spaces to explore.

Sports fans will love it here. The city's home to the Cardinals baseball team, the Blues ice hockey squad and City Soccer Club. ESPN The Magazine even dubbed it the "Ultimate Sports City".

There's also a brilliant craft beer scene, free museums to visit, and the Route 66 stretch through town is packed with vintage diners, neon signs and classic roadside attractions. It's the perfect starting point for an authentic American road trip.

British Airways' Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, said: "St. Louis is a fantastic addition to our US network - it's a destination in itself as a city with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene, as well as a gateway to exciting destinations beyond this."

The airline's been busy boosting its American routes recently. From summer 2026, Miami will get double-daily flights again, Dallas-Fort Worth returns to daily service, and Las Vegas increases to 13 weekly flights. Both San Diego and Austin will have 14 flights per week.

BA's partnership with American Airlines, Iberia, Finnair, Aer Lingus and LEVEL means passengers can easily connect across Europe and North America.

This comes as British Airways announced new flights to holiday spots with year-round sunshine. The new flights will be available to book within weeks.
