A travel expert highlighted two dream holiday destinations

As winter approaches and temperatures drop across the UK, more than 300,000 people are searching online for "winter sun" destinations every single day.

Many of us can't resist the idea of swapping grey skies for sunshine before Christmas arrives, and a travel expert has shared the two great options for your next getaway.

Travel expert Gavin Lapidus from eShores revealed his top picks for those dreaming of warmer weather this winter.

He highlighted two destinations that promise both luxury and guaranteed sunshine: Phuket in Thailand and the Maldives.

Both spots offer the perfect escape from British winter, with ideal weather conditions during our coldest months.

For those considering Thailand, Phuket shines brightest from November through February. Lapidus said: "Phuket, Thailand, is great to visit between November and February due to cooler temperatures (24°C to 31°C), lower humidity, and less rainfall."

The island offers something for everyone, from stunning beaches and vibrant nightlife to fascinating cultural attractions. It's good for both adventure seekers and those who simply want to unwind by the sea.

And there is more to discover than just beautiful beaches - "be sure to visit Phuket Old Town to look at the historic architecture".

This charming area showcases the island's rich heritage through its beautifully preserved buildings.

The Maldives proves equally tempting during British winter months. The expert explained: "The Maldives experiences its dry season from November to April, making the UK winter the ideal time to visit."

Perfect conditions await visitors, with sunny days, crystal-clear skies and minimal humidity. The calm, transparent waters create ideal conditions for diving, snorkelling and various water activities.

However, there are some important considerations for those planning a Maldivian escape, including the price and when you book.

"It is worth noting this is the peak tourist season, so booking well in advance is advised," the travel expert cautioned.

With these two destinations offering guaranteed warmth and sunshine, it's no wonder so many Britons are already planning their winter getaways.

This comes as holidaymakers can get free upgrades to all-inclusive on hotel bookings. However, the deal is only available for a limited time, so act quickly.
