As the leaves start to change and cooler air settles in, this is one of the best times to spot wildlife across the UK.
Experts have rounded up the best parts of the country to visit in autumn to find the biggest variety of creatures.
This is according to outdoor experts at Millets who considered the number of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and insects which can be spotted across the UK, particularly in autumn.
Rutland was crowned the best destination for wildlife fanatics based on the number of species per km² in September to November 2024.

The experts said: "Although it is England’s smallest county, Rutland is home to the Rutland Water Nature Reserve, which is a haven for biodiversity. During the autumn months, visitors can spot a wide range of species, including great northern divers, wheatears, red-necked grebes and various deep-water ducks."

In second place, Monmouthshire boasts 302 species per km². This can be found in a mix of valleys, farmland, wetlands and woodlands, providing an ideal place for wildlife to congregate.
The experts added: "The season also brings an array of migratory birds such as geese and swans, which can be spotted as they pass through the region on their journey south."
Wealden rounded out the top three, with natural sites Ashdown Forest and the South Downs National Park calling this area home.
It has everything from river valleys to ancient woodlands, which not only make a great place for a scenic walk, but also offer the ideal habitat for a range of wildlife. Expect to see woodlarks, nightjars and migratory birds in the autumn months.
