You get a summary of what you've watched and listened to this year

  • YouTube has released its very own YouTube Recap
  • This is a summary of everything you've watched on the platform this year
  • It's a similar approach to Spotify's annual Spotify Wrapped
  • The feature is free to everyone who has a YouTube account
  • If you've listened to at least 10 hours of songs, YouTube will also recap your music

YouTube has finally given viewers what they've been asking for — a personalised look back at their entire year of watching.

The video platform launched its very first Recap feature this week, and it's now available to UK users after initially rolling out in the US.

Think of it as YouTube's answer to this year's recently released Spotify Wrapped, but for everything you've watched rather than just music.

The feature pulls together highlights from your 2025 viewing habits, showing your favourite channels, the topics you couldn't get enough of, and other fun details about how you spent your time on the platform this year.

To access your recap, head to the You tab at the bottom of the YouTube app, and you'll spot a banner telling you your Recap is ready and waiting.

If you prefer using your laptop, simply visit youtube.com/recap to see the same personalised breakdown.

It works for everyone, too, whether you're a free user or paying for one of the following Premium options:

  • Premium Lite (£7.99): Removes ads from most videos but not music videos or Shorts
  • Standard Premium (£12.99): Provides ad-free viewing on all of YouTube, offline downloads, background playback, and the ad-free YouTube Music app
  • Family Plan (£19.99): Includes the same benefits as the Standard Premium plan for up to five family members

Once you've had a look, you can share your highlights across social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok just like you can with Spotify Wrapped.

The Recap plays through like a reel, with up to 12 different cards spotlighting your year.

What sets the platform's recap apart from others like Spotify or even Apple Music is that YouTube assigns you a personality type based on what you've been watching all year.

The platform has created at least 11 different categories, and you'll be matched to one depending on your viewing habits.

YouTube Recap personalities

According to YouTube, the most common personalities turned out to be the Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, and Connector, while Philosopher and Dreamer proved to be the rarer finds

Love content that helps you pick up new skills? You might be labelled a "Skill Builder."

Drawn to uplifting, feel-good videos? There's a good chance you're a "Sunshiner."

Other personality types include the "Adventurer," "Creative Spirit," "Connector," "Philosopher," and "Dreamer."

You can also find a summary of the music you've listened to, in addition to what you've watched on YouTube

Not everyone can access their Recap, though. YouTube has made the feature available only to adults, so children under 13 and supervised accounts won't be able to see their viewing highlights.

It's also worth noting that if you've had your watch history paused or auto-delete settings switched on, that viewing time won't count towards your Recap.

For music lovers, there's a special bonus waiting. If you've clocked up at least 10 hours listening on YouTube Music this year, you'll get a dedicated music recap as well.

Once you've finished browsing your video highlights, you'll be directed to a deeper dive into your musical year.
