Apple and Samsung were head-to-head in the competition to launch the best ultra-thin phone — and now, Motorola has decided to join the fray. Enter, Motorola Edge 70.
At just 5.99mm thick, it's a whisper thicker than Galaxy S25 Edge launched by Samsung earlier this year (5.8mm) and a fraction chunkier than iPhone Air (5.6mm), which keeps its title as the slimmest smartphone. Motorola's svelte phone is much closer to the Galaxy S25 Edge when it comes to screen size, thanks to its generous 6.67" pOLED touchscreen display (compared with 6.7" on the Galaxy S25 Edge and 6.5" on iPhone Air).
Despite the svelte frame, Motorola has managed to squeeze some impressive specs into its handset.
For starters, this is the only smartphone in the new (and fast-growing) ultra-thin category that boasts triple 50MP cameras, which should offer plenty of crisp details no matter what you're capturing.
- 50MP main camera capable of 4K video recording and 3x more HDR coverage than Motorola Edge 60
- 50MP ultrawide for a 120° field of view, fitting more into each photo
- Macro capabilities built into 50MP ultrawide for detailed close-up shots
- 50MP front-facing camera for crisp selfies, group shots, and video calls
- Dedicated 3-in-1 light sensor for better light sensitivity and appropriate exposure

Motorola Edge 70 is a polished mid-range powerhouse: sleek design, crisp OLED with a high-refresh display, capable performance, versatile camera setup, fast charging and a near-stock Android experience. It balances premium touches and strong value, making it a top pick for sensible buyers
Motorola is also relying on Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) to remove any unwanted blur from your photos, and its Pantone Validated colour and skin tones certification means you should expect realistic colours and shades when viewing your finished photos on-device.
Next up, the ultra-thin Edge 70 is rated IP69 for water resistance, an industry standard that proves it's completely dust-tight and protected from high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. In other words, Motorola's latest handset will be absolutely fine if you're making a call and a tropical storm starts overhead. The 6.7" display is protected with toughened Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, so it should shrug off an accidental drop (or two).

Out of the box, this Android device arrives with moto ai, which can answer time-sensitive questions, summarise unread notifications, transcribe notes from a recording, recall information from a screenshot, and generate never-before-seen images from a written prompt. It's very similar to what you can expect to find on any recent Samsung, Google, or Apple smartphone.
Under the bonnet, Motorola is using the latest silicon-carbon battery technology to ensure that its Edge 70 remains lightweight (159g, compared with 163g for Galaxy S25 Edge and 165g for iPhone Air) but still has enough juice to last a busy day without the need to recharge.
Motorola settled on a massive 4,800mAh battery that offers up to 50 hours of mixed usage during the day and up to 29 hours of continuous video playback. When it’s time to charge up, the device gives users a choice in 68W TurboPower wired capabilities or 15W TurboPower wireless charging for a speedy top-up.
Inside the box, Motorola Edge 70 ships with a magnetic case that lets you snap the handset to a range of magnetic accessories, including chargers and car mounts.

Powering everything is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset from US brand Qualcomm, which boasts improvements to AI, CPU and GPU performance. Out of the box, the Motorola Edge 70 is powered by Android 16, with guaranteed bimonthly security updates and patches until July 2031.
Motorola has also committed to four major Android OS upgrades for this slim smartphone, so you're guaranteed to see the latest Android 20 features drop on this handset at some point in the future.
Discussing the launch, Miles Norman, UK&I Country General Manager at Motorola, said: "With the launch of the Motorola Edge 70 and our new Moto G57 family, we’re continuing to redefine what users can expect from design and performance.
The Motorola Edge 70’s impossibly thin yet incredibly tough build shows how innovation and durability can go hand in hand, while the G57 family brings our signature reliability and advanced AI-powered experiences to even more people at accessible price points."
Edge 70 costs £699.99, which is more affordable than Galaxy S25 Edge (£1,099) and iPhone Air (£999).
